The Best Israeli Records You Never Knew Until Now


Who won the Hummus Battle between Israel and Lebanon? How did the Israeli competitor break a Guinness World Record? How many students were crammed into a classroom for the world’s most crowded class? Get to see a whole new side of the Israeli people in this fun lesson about the craziest Israeli records!

At the start of the experience, participants will share their own personal records and any records they know before learning about amusing and interesting Israeli records and the stories behind them. The experience will end with a discussion about what makes the Israeli character so unique and how such a small country can do such big things. The material can be tailored to fit any age group from middle schoolers to young adults.

This experience can be done in one of two ways:

  1. An interactive quiz. This will require two devices: a computer or tablet, and a cell phone to answer quiz questions.
  2. A non-competitive presentation over the Live platform that uses the chat function for conversation. This will require one device- a computer or tablet.



Shani and Nir Boneh provide unique educational programs about Israel from their perspective as locals to groups visiting Israel from all over the world. They both received a Bachelor of Arts from Ben-Gurion University and moved to Palm Beach, Florida as a married couple after graduation, where they served as Israeli emissaries for the Jewish Agency. Two years later, they returned to Israel and started working towards earning a Masters through the Ruderman Program for American Jewish Studies at Haifa University.

Shani is a professional tour guide who runs educational programs for Birthright groups and other educational journeys in Israel. Nir has worked with the Jewish Agency and IDF on several projects about peoplehood and teaches Israeli society to pre-army academic groups. They currently live in Kibbutz Kadarim in northern Israeli with their two young children.
